Okay so I am overloading you with new posts tonight, but I am on a roll. And currently my poor, hardworking, tired and weary husband is pumping out gallons of water from our basement.
(The picture does no justice.)
When we arrived home on Sunday we were greeted to a musty smell. Upon examining the basement we realized that it had flooded while we were gone and some water remained. Many things were damaged by the water and/or mold. We worked busily to move everything, load up his truck with ruined items, set up fans and do all we could to fix the problem.
Day Two- The situation seemed to be fixed, and there was not much water coming in anymore. Jake fixed the gutters and we thought that was that!
Day Three- WRONG! Jake awakes early to several inches in the basement. The things we had moved to a "safe" location, were now wet. This is today...it is 11pm and he is ALMOST finished. He had to come back and pump throughout the day. The water was coming up from the ground. It broke historical records in our area. His boss (who doesn't live far) had a total of about 14 inches in his basement!
We are grateful that we have had power, we have heat, we have our home and we were able to borrow a pump. They say the worst is yet to come tonight, but the Lord will control all of those details. I am so glad that the things of this earth will pass away!!! So even though we had to throw away a bunch of our things....we are just thanking God for how He has blessed us through this all and how our treasure is in Him!!!
PS-kinda glad that Jake didn't create the "dream" finished basement I've always wanted!!! :)
